Delicious Conversations with Fintech Friends | Celebrating Taylor Van Slyck, CPA at Wiss
Rho Editorial Team

This fall, we brought together the friends, family, and colleagues of Taylor Van Slyck, for drinks and a live podcast recording at the illustrious Opto NY, all to celebrate the incredible women of accounting.
Honoring the Women Behind It All
This year, we’re giving women leaders their flowers at exclusive bi-coastal celebrations. With great care and intention, these two teams have been bringing these celebrations to life: Rho, the all-in-one business banking platform, built for startups and the accountants who serve them, and Nicole Casperson, founder of Fintech is Femme, a media company dedicated to shaping fintech's future.
From a monthly bouquet subscription from Urban Stems NY, to handmade cards and live plants that serve as a perpetual keepsake, every detail was thoughtfully considered. Because finance luminaries like Taylor Van Slyck should be celebrated year round.
Taylor (Bickley) Van Slyck, Director of Growth and Client Solutions & Fearless, Emerging Leader
Honoree Taylor Van Slyck is a highly accomplished Director of Growth & Client Solutions at Wiss, where she blends over seven years of public accounting experience with a forward-thinking approach to addressing her clients’ diverse accounting and financial needs.
Previously specializing in CFO services and outsourced accounting, Taylor provided strategic financial guidance, assisted in Business Process Reviews (BPRs), served as an interim controller, and streamlined billing cycles for enhanced efficiency. She’s also navigated complex government programs like the Employee Retention Credit (ERC) and PPP Loan Funding/Forgiveness, helping her clients not only weather difficult times but to emerge stronger.
Now, in her role as Director of Growth & Client Solutions, Taylor uses this deep and varied background to deliver innovative, high-impact solutions tailored to each client’s unique challenges. Her ability to integrate technical expertise with strategic insight allows her to drive meaningful results and build lasting partnerships. Her professional and personal commitment to excellence reflects her focus on fostering meaningful, ongoing relationships throughout her career.
Outside of Wiss, Taylor is active in the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) and her alma mater, Virginia Tech. Her leadership and dedication were recognized when she was named a 2024 NYCPA Emerging Leader Award recipient. In her free time, Taylor loves running marathons and baking. Congratulations Taylor!

Honoring Women in Finance with Tasty Bites & Live Podcast
The atmosphere radiated energy, appreciation, and pride. We gathered thirty like-minded finance professionals to swap stories and celebrate the accomplishments of incredible women like Taylor. Her colleagues, clients, and friends toasted with custom martinis and delicious bites from the Flatiron District hotspot, Opto NYC. Food and drinks flowed from the culinary mind of Chef Alex Tubero, the mood brimming with delight.
That delight was no more apparent than when Taylor's fellow finance leaders spoke of her that night:
Taylor seamlessly blends excellence in accounting with fearless networking and business development. Her great attitude and sense of humor make her a standout colleague, while her unwavering integrity and follow-through earn lasting trust. Though early in her leadership journey, Taylor is already proving to be a strong and influential voice in the accounting profession. We’re excited to see where her talent and drive will take her next.”
Bill Haemmerle, Partner of Transaction Advisory, Wiss
Taylor is a unique, smart, caring individual who has put her whole being into serving clients, co-workers, and the profession. She has become one of the fastest growing leaders in the NYCPA Society. She is an emerging leader, VP of the Bronx/Manhattan Chapter and President-Elect of the Moynihan Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships to accounting students throughout NY State.
Phil London, Partner Emeritus, Wiss
She exemplifies what our team at Wiss strives towards: constant innovation, novel solutions, and a deep commitment to the growth of both our clients and our people. She consistently goes above and beyond, whether it’s in embracing new and complex areas of learning or in advocating for the CPA profession through her work with the NYSSCPA (New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants). Her dedication to excellence and her genuine care for those around her make her a standout at Wiss and in the accounting industry.
Arnold Macalintal, Partner of Advisory, Wiss
With a delicious bite in one hand and the cocktails Taylor Made or The Slyck CPA, in the other, guests mingled until the highlight of the evening began. Nicole Casperson hosted a live production of the Humans of Fintech podcast, featuring honoree Taylor, and special guest Valerie Chapman, the CMO and Co-Founder of INFRM, a NY-based creative agency committed to elevating brands to the forefront of youth cultural movements.
No spoilers, but their lively podcast conversation traversed topics like the gender wage gap. This episode was a celebration of the ongoing impactful work of women leaders, and a testament that there’s more for us to do. “This is not a niche, it’s a mission,” Valerie said, as the live audience’s echoed their agreement throughout the night

As the event came to a close, Rho x Fintech is Femme presented Taylor with a $1,000 donation to her chosen cause, the Moynihan Scholarship Fund, managed by the New York State Society of CPAs. Since its establishment in 2015, the mission of the Moynihan Scholarship Fund (MSF) has been to support the education and development of high school and college students in New York State, while facilitating their exposure to accounting and business careers. In 2023, MSF awarded $159,600 in scholarships to deserving students.

Every detail of that evening showed that achievement and joy are better enjoyed when shared in community. Taylor beamed receiving her flower subscription, a monthly reminder to celebrate her wins. And she was in awe knowing that regular handwritten letters from attendees would be sent to her following the event. Finally, each guest took home a live plant as a keepsake, to remind them to nurture this work and honor their passions.
