Switch your business banking to Rho

What is Rho Switch?

Rho Switch helps you move your business banking from your previous bank to Rho.

It identifies the accounts, vendors, payroll providers, customers, and other tools connected to your previous bank account, then guides you through updating them to your Rho account.

Depending on the service, updates can be completed automatically or with step-by-step instructions.

Most customers complete the full switch in under 15 minutes, and you can save your progress and return at any time.

Choose what to switch

Before you begin, Rho Switch builds a list of the accounts, vendors, payroll providers, customers, and other tools connected to your previous bank account.

Review the list before continuing. You can remove anything you don't want to update, such as tools or vendors you no longer use.

Your progress is saved automatically, so you can leave and return at any time.

Rho switch moves the relationships, not just the money. Each item below:

  • Fund your new Rho account: Rho recommends a funding amount based on the transaction history, designed to cover roughly one month of payroll and operating expenses so nothing is disrupted mid-switch.

  • Move over how you get paid and who you pay: Items that support automation are marked with a lightning bolt; Rho updates your banking details with that provider on your behalf. The first time you run one, you'll need to install the Rho Chrome extension.

Note: For anything without automation, Rho gives you step-by-step instructions along with your Rho banking details, so you can copy and paste the correct information into the provider, vendor portal, or payroll system.

Start a switch

If your Rho account balance is $0, you'll be prompted to start the switch directly from your Homepage.

If you have funds in the account, to start switching:

  1. Log in to your Rho account.

  2. Go to Banking → click the gear icon in the upper-right to access Account Settings.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page.

  4. Click Switch from another bank.

You'll be taken to a page with your Rho account and routing numbers already filled in, so you can get started right away.

Connect your previous bank account

To build your switch list, connect the bank account you're switching from using one of these methods:

  • Plaid: Securely connect your bank to analyze the last 120 days of account activity.

  • Statement upload: Upload recent bank statements instead of connecting through Plaid.

Rho Switch never stores your bank login or moves money on your behalf.

What Rho detects

We review the last 120 days of account activity to identify the accounts, vendors, payroll providers, customers, and other services connected to your bank account.

This information is used to build your switch list and recommend an initial funding amount for your Rho account. Everything detected is pre-selected by default: review the list before continuing.

Your recommended deposit is based on your recent transaction history. It's designed to leave approximately one month of payroll and operating expenses in your previous bank account while you complete the switch.

You can use the suggested amount, choose a different amount, or add more funds later.

Note: If you plan to set up Payments to Vendors with Rho vendor cards, set those up in Rho before you start the switch so everything sorts cleanly.

How long does a switch take?

Most customers complete the switching process in under 15 minutes. Automated updates typically take about 30 seconds each.

Your progress is saved automatically, so you can leave and return whenever you need.

Why isn't my payroll switch complete?

Some payroll providers verify new bank accounts with micro-deposits before updating your payment information.

Until that verification is complete, your payroll switch may remain in progress.

Can I switch international vendors?

At this time, Rho switch supports vendors that use a U.S. routing number and account number.

If a vendor requires international banking details, such as a SWIFT code, BIC, or IBAN, you'll need to add that vendor directly in your Rho dashboard or contact Rho Client Services for assistance.

Data and privacy

Rho Switch is designed to collect only the information needed to complete your switch.

  • Bank connections through Plaid never expose your login credentials.

  • Account and routing numbers are stored as encrypted tokens.

  • Data is hosted in the United States using SOC 2–audited providers and protected with encryption and multi-factor authentication.

  • Switch data is deleted approximately 120 days after collection or when you disconnect your bank account.
