Free wires sound simple until you read the fine print. Domestic wires are often free. International wires vary: a few providers list $0 for USD wires, but conversion fees, SWIFT fees and intermediary banks can still reduce what arrives.
Which business bank accounts offer free wires?
Mercury, Brex and Rho publish free domestic wire terms. Airwallex lists free domestic transfers in USD and CAD (not labeled wires). Rho charges $0 Rho fees on domestic wires and is built for US-incorporated businesses.
International is where the lists split. Mercury's pricing page lists $0 for USD international wires. For Rho, international wires in USD can carry fees set by recipient, correspondent or intermediary banks (see disclosures).
Mercury, Airwallex, Bluevine and Wise Business list conversion or currency fees on their pricing pages, and recipient banks may deduct their own fees.
How we ranked free wire providers
Best-for labels in this piece rest on five criteria, applied to each provider's own published pricing:
Domestic wire cost. Does the pricing page say outgoing domestic wires are free?
International wire cost. Is there a stated fee for USD and non-USD wires?
Conversion fees. What does the provider charge to convert currency?
Monthly fees. What does the account cost to hold?
Who the account serves. Which businesses the provider says it serves.
Anything a provider did not state on its pricing page is left out. We did not fill gaps with third-party roundups.

Which banks have free international wires?
Mercury's pricing page lists $0 for USD international wires, and Airwallex lists $15 to $25 per SWIFT transfer. For Rho, international wires in USD can carry fees set by recipient, correspondent or intermediary banks (see disclosures).
Non-USD wires are where costs show up. Mercury, Airwallex, Bluevine and Wise Business list conversion or currency fees on their pricing pages, and recipient banks may deduct their own fees.
Free wires do not guarantee the full amount arrives
A free wire means the sending provider did not charge you. It does not mean the recipient gets every dollar.
International USD wires can pass through intermediary banks, and each one can take a cut. Mercury says so on its own pricing page: with its standard fee option the recipient may absorb intermediary bank fees.
Its flat $15 OUR option exists to push those fees onto the sender instead. Brex notes that the recipient's institution may charge a fee on receipt.
Currency conversion is the second leak. A provider can charge $0 for the wire and still make money on the exchange rate or a conversion fee. Mercury lists 1% for non-USD international wires. Airwallex lists 0.5% above interbank rates for major currencies and 1.0% for others.
What that means in practice:
Compare the total cost, not the wire line.
Ask the recipient whether their bank charges for incoming wires.
If the exact amount matters, send a small test wire first.
For the basics of when a wire beats an ACH payment, see ACH vs wire.
